Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals
BAPTISMS: These are normally conducted during the main servce on Sunday mornings, usually at a Family service. When infants are baptised, parents and godparents promise that they will set an example to the child by living out their own Christian faith. Baptisms in the Church of England are free. Donations to the ministry of the church are welcomed. WEDDINGS: You can marry in a CofE church if you can show : That one of you:
That one of your parents, at any time after you were born:
That one of your parents or grandparents:
And did you know that if you move house, you’re immediately connected to the church there? That means you can marry in the church of your new parish. In all cases involving church services - i.e. going to normal church services, baptism, confirmation or marriage - this applies only to Church of England services. Even if you cannot demonstrate any of the above connections, we want to help you explore whether it may still be possible for you to marry in your special church. Please contact Rev Caroline Raby 01271 815560 or Rev Steve Painting 01271 812605 to discuss your options. FUNERALS AND BURIALS: Right to burial in a Church of England Churchyard is reserved firstly to it's church members (those on the electoral roll). You also have a right to burial if you are a resident in the parish or a person who has died in the Parish, regardless of whether you attended church or not. Please contact Rev Steve Painting 01271 812605 or Rev. Caroline Raby 01271 815560 to discuss your options. Wedding and Funeral Fees 2019 (fees are subject to adjustment): |
